This review is from: Schwinn No Pressure Bicycle Seat (Sports)
I bought a Raleigh GRUV bicycle a few months ago so I could do some riding with my girlfriend. The GRUV is an odd looking machine, but it was absolutely the most comfortable bike I test rode. Having not been on a bicycle for over 25 years, I wanted to build some endurance before I got together with my gal for a pleasant weekend ride. After my short "practice" rides in the evenings, I suffered from some mild but noticeable numbness in unmentionable, "manly" areas. I never suffered from this when I was a youngster, so I figured it would pass after I got used to riding again. I figured wrong. I went for my much anticipated weekend "date ride" (about 10 miles worth of nice, paved trails). By the end of the trip, the "comfortable" stock seat on that bike had caused many miserable and painful "sensations". So I did some research and came-up with the Schwinn No Pressure Bicycle Seat. Ordered it right here off of Amazon. Installed easily on the seat post that came with the bike... Read more

I got this seat for my mountain bike because I realized that I wasn't a hardcore mountain biker who wants the lightest seat possible with best control; I'm a casual city rider who hates pain between the legs and worries about his man parts. So I was looking for a comfort seat. I compared this with the seats that have two pads and have glowing reviews from people with prostate problems and this was, well, cheaper. It also looks a bit more comfy.

This seat is comfortable to sit on. Very comfortable. Like an office chair or better. If all we did on bikes was sit, this would be the best seat money can buy. However, we also pedal on bikes, and that creates a bit of a problem. Specifically, as you pedal your legs push down on the front edge of the seat on the downstroke and after a while it hurts. Normal bikes (not the cruiser kind) have the center of the pedals right under the seat. That's fine if your seat is a narrow ridge that is squashing your man parts and your... Read more

This review is from: Schwinn No Pressure Bicycle Seat (Sports)
WOW!! This seat is great! I had an ileostomy about a year ago, and during the recovery process I gained a lot of weight. This weight, coupled with a very tender backside, meant that I needed an extremely comfortable seat. I saw a seat at Wal-Mart that had springs, gel, and was nine inches wide. When I pushed on it, it seemed like a very comfortable seat so I purchased it. After installing it, I rode approximately two blocks and had to get off, needless to say, I returned it, and purchased this one. This seat is truly a godsend! I don't know how they make it so comfortable, ( there are no springs that I can see ) but it is like sitting on a heavily padded bench. It also adjusts front to back, like a car seat, once it's set, tightening the mounting nuts locks it securely in place. I found this feature handy due to the fact that I'm over six feet tall and needed the leg room. A previous reviewer commented on feeling like they were falling off when riding downhill, I did not... 4.0 out of 5 stars Schwinn quality in an upright exercise bike, October 26, 2011

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
When I was growing up, the rich kids had Schwinn bicycles. Schwinn meant quality, reliability and long lasting. When my wife wanted a new road bicycle, we shopped around and in the end, she picked a Schwinn. I live in the north east so riding every day is difficult as the weather gods turn a cold shoulder to my neck of the woods. To keep riding, we shopped for an exercise bicycle and my wife, once again, picked a Schwinn. Unlike the bike I am reviewing today, she picked a recumbent and since it was going to be her machine, and she was paying, it came home with us. So, for years, I have gotten my almost daily fix on that Schwinn recumbent bicycle. While I put many hours a week on it, to get your pulse rate and calories calculated, I have to place my hands on the sensor pads on the bars that sit below the seat - not a natural position for me but I have gotten used to it. I much prefer riding with my hand "up on the bars".

Enter the Schwinn 120 Upright. It's a traditional... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Schwinn 120 (2012 Model), December 4, 2011
This review is from: Schwinn 120 Upright Exercise Bike (2012 Model) (Sports)
Just finished my first workout, a short 30 minute, 8 mile ride. Installation was straight forward and took about 45 minutes total. I'm a fairly big guy (6'3/230lbs) but have an athletic build. The bike fits relatively well. My knees have enough room and don't hit the handle bars and that is with seat 1 notch from the tallest setting. The foot pedals however are small. I wore my running shoes (size 13) and they just barely fit into the straps even when they straps are at their biggest setting. If I don't have it just right, the sides of my shoes hit the bar that holds the pedals. After a few times adjusting my foot position it wasn't a problem for the rest of my workout. The LCD screen is a bit hard to read due to the font being a bit skinny. It is certainly not a deal breaker though. The heart beat sensor seems to be a bit erratic (even when making sure my hands did not move on the sensor). It would jump from 80 to 110, to 130 within 3 reading (~18 seconds). I think this may be... Read more

This review is from: Schwinn 120 Upright Exercise Bike (2012 Model) (Sports)
Pedaling is smooth, as are the resistance changes. Both my husband and I are using it, so we have to make seat adjustments, which have proven simple and easy. The default program options are varied (to the point where I haven't felt the need to program my own yet). The creaking/clicking others have mentioned has developed in my bike as well, but it only happens after I've ridden for 15 minutes or so. I might open it up again and see if I can remedy the situation myself.

Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike

Product Description

The Schwinn Airdyne Comp's resistance-based braking creates zero friction and considerably less maintenance than other, more complex systems. Sealed cartridge bearings provide a smooth ride, reliability and extra-long life.

Amazon.com Product Description

Save money on monthly gym fees and get yourself in shape at the same time with the Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp exercise bike. The Airdyne Evo Comp features a smooth, air-based resistance braking system along with a pair of sturdy exercise arms. The advantage of the unique air resistance system is that it offers as much resistance as you can handle.

The harder you pedal, the greater the resistance.
The integrated exercise arms, meanwhile, make it possible to work out your upper body and your lower body at the same time, unlike most traditional exercise bikes. The friction-free braking system also requires considerably less maintenance than other, more complex systems, so you don't have to spend your hard-earned money on frustrating repairs. And thanks to the sealed cartridge bearings, the Airdyne Evo Comp provides a smooth ride throughout the bike's extra-long life.

The Airdyne Evo Comp includes a comprehensive computer console that provides feedback on time, distance, workload level, calories burned, calories per hour, heart rate, and RPM. As a result, it's easy to keep track of your overall fitness level. Other features include an extra-quiet chain and belt drive system equipped with a spring-loaded chain tensioner; built-in heart rate monitoring; an LCD display; a fan wheel that cools the user during exercise; an anatomically correct seat with extra padding; and a capacity of 300 pounds. The Airdyne Evo Comp measures 50 by 22.5 by 48 inches (L x W x H), weighs 104 pounds, and carries the following warranties: 30 years on the frame, three years on parts and electronics, and one year on labor and wear items.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great bike, February 10, 2007
By
This review is from: Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike (Sports)
You know all of the advantages of the Schwinn Airdyne bikes and no reason to rehash here. But I believe the Airdyne Evo Comp is worth the few extra bucks over the old standard Airdyne for several reasons. First, the Airdyne Evo Comp is noticably quieter because it uses a belt to drive the fan verses a chain on the Airdyne. Second, the Airdyne Evo Comp has newer technology/higher quality components in the bearings, crankset, etc. so it will last even longer than the old standard (which has a great service history!). Third, the shape of the fans in the Airdyne Evo Comp eliminates the drafting effect on the Airdyne which actually reduces the pedaling resistance at higher speeds a little. Fourth, the fan on the Airdyne Evo Comp does not blow on you like the Airdyne (I actually would prefer a little air on me when working out, but most people don't).

I found the assembly instructions ok. You must pay attention to what you are doing and follow them exactly as written but... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars HOW TO ASSEMBLE, March 3, 2011

This review is from: Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike (Sports)
Our new Schwinn Airdine Evo was delivered the other day, and I got around to putting it together last night. I'm experienced, and doing it carefully and thoughtfully, it still took me several hours.

If you've read the other reviews, you'll notice a few 2008-ish complaints about the bottom bracket breaking. I noticed on my brand-new bike that the bottom housing had been taken apart at some point (the sticker was cut along the seam) so I've got my fingers crossed that Schwinn/Nautilus has addressed the issue and replaced the faulty internal hardware at the factory. We'll see soon enough.

The Home Assembly instructions are TERRIBLE. If you're inexperienced with tools, assembling this bike is going to be a bit of a challenge. I do recommend you have this professionally assembled if you're uncomfortable.

That wasn't an option for me, so, in the interest of good cardio karma, I decided to keep notes as I assembled mine. I wrote these instructions imagining I... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Solid Construction with Quality Control Problems, July 26, 2006
By
This review is from: Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike (Sports)
After seeing this bicycle in Paragon Sports in Manhattan, I knew I had to purchase it. The solid construction and compact design demonstrated a leap forward from the original Schwinn Airdyne. At approximately 95lbs, it was solid enough for a health club/rehabilitation center setting but light enough for a consumer. While I have multiple gym memberships, I thought this would be a good item to have at my parents' house both for their use and when I visit. Unfortunately, the purchase turned out to be mistake due to the incredible hassles created by Schwinn Fitness' poor quality control.

Basically, what Schwinn Fitness (i.e Nautilus) has done is improve the time-tested air-resistance concept. The original Airdyne, which is 20+ years old uses a large 30" diameter fan with flat blades. The Airdyne Evolution Comp uses a much smaller fan that is wider and has contoured blades, which increases resistance. This leads to smoother operation with less vibration. Combining traditional...
